grocery bill

The third workshop I attended at the Hearts at Home conference was called How to cut your grocery bill in half. It was hosted by Crystal Paine. She is the founder of Money Saving Mom. We began the workshop by figuring out how much we spend per person, per week on groceries. It was very eye-opening for us all. Crystal then shared several tips on how to cut your grocery bill in half. It was very helpful. Here are the tips with my notes under each.

supposed to be

On Saturday morning, the keynote speaker was Dr. Kathy Koch. She was amazing! I felt very convicted and challenged by her session. Kathy spoke to us about who we are as a person and also about how we relate to our kids in who they are. Kathy had us repeat after her a statement. “I am who I am supposed to be.” Let’s say that again “I am who I am supposed to be.” Wow! I know I am a child created in God’s image.

On March 14, a friend and I headed to Normal, IL for a Hearts at Home conference. I learned about it through a book I read called Celebrate Home. Little did I know how life changing this conference would be. I walked away challenged, encouraged, and refreshed.

too hard for God

Have you ever lost something and looked everywhere to find it? And gave up hope because it was nowhere in sight? Me too. The last time this happened God used my 3-year-old daughter Analiah to speak into my heart that nothing is too hard for God.

We have had a lot of snow days around here lately. It has made for some crazy days on the home front. I have been trying to be creative with different activities to really embrace and savor the time with my kids. One snow day morning I decided we would lay out the picnic blanket, make some popcorn, drink hot cocoa, and watch a movie together. Sounds so fun, right?

prayer warrior

Prayer Warrior. What comes to mind when you read that? Who comes to mind when you read that? Do you know a lot of prayer warriors? Are you one yourself? Throughout my college years, I met many people who I considered prayer warriors. They were the people you would go to when you were struggling with something or someone. You can count on them to pray for you then and you knew without a shadow of a doubt they would keep praying for you. Over the years I have met more.

In the Word Wednesdays

Monday morning is my time to make homemade bread. Last week when I made it, I forgot the most important ingredient- yeast. You can imagine how flat my bread was. The funny thing is that I was so excited because I put the bread in before getting the kids off to school so I felt super accomplished.  I LOVE to accomplish tasks. In fact, a good day for me is when I have crossed of lots of things off my to-do list.

more

This is my 15-month-old son Caleb and he wants more. Almost every morning I feed Caleb his cereal. His isn’t quite ready to feed it to himself without making a big mess. Honestly, it can be a little frustrating because my task-oriented self would like to be doing something else. But, God has used this time to teach me a few things.
