Punching the waves
What is he doing? I can’t tell if he is laughing or crying. From my spot on the blanket, I observed Nathan in the big waves. Earlier in the day, he had been so scared to go out by himself. So I was surprised he was out there. I spent a little more time watching him and came to the conclusion that he was laughing.
Wave after wave
With my camera in hand, I moved as close as I could without disturbing Nathan. He was jumping at the big waves and punching them. The excitement and laughter were contagious. Wave after wave, he punched and laughed. I found myself punching with him. His chest grew bigger and he stood taller. Nathan was conquering the waves instead of letting the waves conquer him.
What brought about this change? About a half hour before this, Nathan had spent time with his Daddy in the waves. He grabbed hold of his Daddy’s hand and faced the waves. He wasn’t alone in the waves. His Daddy protected him. His Dad taught him how to work with the waves. He was able to punch the waves because he spent time with his Dad.
In that moment, God whispered to my heart. He reminded me of the many waves of life I had conquered because of spending time with him. God reminded me of how different I am when I have spent time with Him. As I reflected, I do always feel stronger after my daily time with God. I do feel like I can conquer anything that comes my way. I have learned to hold tight to my Daddy’s hand and relax because He is in control. My time with my heavenly Daddy changes me. I am stronger. I’m ready to go punch some large waves and laugh as I do so.
How about you? How do you feel after spending time with Jesus? Are you ready to punch the waves of life?
