“But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you.” –Isaiah 43:1-3, MSG
Have you ever been in over your head? Have you ever felt like life is just too much for you to handle? I am sure we have all been there at some point. It is in these moments that we have a choice. Will we let life overwhelm us or will we turn to God and trust that He has it under control?
I know I want to turn to God and trust that He has it under control. I am sure you would much rather go that route also. But, what does this look like on a day to day basis? In our scripture verses for today, we learn in order to trust God, we need to remember who we are, who is with us, and to have hope.
First, we need to know who we are. The truth is you are a child of God. He has made you. God has called you by name. (vs. 1) You are His. Nothing can take this identity away from you. Each day we need to keep coming back to this truth.
Secondly, God is with you. (vs. 2) Anytime you feel like you are in over your head, God is right there with you. He will not let you go down in the rough waters of life.
And lastly, we have a hope that cannot be taken away. Anytime we find ourselves between a rock and a hard place, God promises that it won’t be a dead end because He is our God. He paid a huge price for us when He sent Jesus to die in our place. Because Jesus died and rose again, we have a hope that cannot be taken away.
I have no way of knowing what you are dealing with right now, what keeps you up at night and what’s on your mind all day. But God knows and He cares very deeply. The next time life circumstances start to overwhelm, remember who you are, Who is with you and the hope that you have in Jesus. You will not go down!
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and calling me your child. I love that You care so deeply about all that I am going through. Thank You that I will not go down. Help me to continue to trust in You no matter what. I love You, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
