2020 – A Year to Grow in Trust

Is it just me or has 2020 had a crazy start to it? It started off somewhat calm and uneventful. And then March happened. The Coronavirus turned our world upside down in so many ways. Schools, restaurants, and businesses closed. The Stay at Home order went into effect. We were forced to slow down. God is using this unprecedented time to grow my trust in His perfect plan.

In many ways, our family life got busier. I am juggling working from home, doing e-learning with our four children, continuing to train a puppy, and keep up with things around the house.  Jonathan has been able to keep working which is a blessing. So, we have slowed down with evening activities due to the Coronavirus but life on the homefront is at a different pace.

We are really enjoying the time together. Throughout it all, I am leaning into God and growing in trust. My Word of the Year is trust. I love how God is using this unprecedented time to grow my trust in His perfect plan.

When I receive an email from a teacher that one of our children is not doing his best and disrupting the class zoom calls, or when working with another child who is not doing their best work, I am learning to trust that God is working in our children.

When I have intense back pain for over a week, I am learning to trust that it won’t stay that way and I can draw my strength from God to face each day.

Jonathan and I continue to grow in our marriage and communication. In all this, I am learning to trust that God is growing me to become a more loving and respectful wife.  When it feels hopeless at points, I am learning to trust that God is working.

Word of the Year

Trust is my word of the year and I love how God is using it. What is your word of the Year? Why do you even need a Word of the Year? I believe you need a Word of the Year to give you a growth focus for the year. The word is meant to represent a central way you are depending on God in the year to come. It helps you determine who you want to become by the end of the year.

When you have a word of the year, it helps you to be intentional about how you spend the hours, days, and months of the year. There have been many tears these last couple of months with all of the changes. And even as we start to transition back to normal, it has been a challenge. But, my word of the year has helped me to really focus on growing in trust in this season.

How have you grown during this season? What has God been teaching you?

Has your Word of the Year been surfacing a lot this year? I would love to hear about it. If you haven’t picked a word of the year yet, click HERE to receive a free printable to guide you in the process.
