Am I enough?

“And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”  Matthew 3:17

Do you ever wonder if you are good enough? To be loved, accepted and cherished for who you are. Or to be part of “that” team or friends with “that” person. Are you good enough to be part of a “that” group or to be a Mom to those kids?

I have experienced various rejections from key people in my life and often wondered if I am good enough. This past couple of years, I have been on a journey with God as He sets the record straight.

In today’s key verse found in Matthew 3:17, we read “And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” The voice speaking from heaven is God’s voice. He is speaking about Jesus, His beloved Son. Jesus brings God great joy just because He is God’s son. Jesus has done nothing in His ministry yet, but God has poured out His affirmation on Jesus. This scripture came alive for me in a fresh way recently.

I am good enough

When I came to the saving knowledge of Jesus, at the age of 18, I became “good enough.” Not because of what I did or will do, but because of what Jesus did at the cross. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, I am good enough in Him.

I am God’s daughter so that means I am dearly loved. My heavenly Daddy says that I bring Him great joy. God is pleased with me. The really amazing part is that God loved me and was pleased with me even before I was born. There was nothing I could do to earn this love. I didn’t need to be “good enough” because Jesus is!

Your identity

Friends, the same is true for you. Your identity is in God alone. You don’t need to keep trying to be good enough at this or that. The truth is you are good enough because of Jesus and that is something to rest in daily.

You’re Already Amazing

This truth continues to sink deep into my heart. God has done so much work in me and will continue to do to cement this truth into my heart. One of the books I read earlier this year that impacted me greatly was called You’re Already Amazing: Embracing Who You Are, Becoming All God Created You to Be by Holley Gerth.

I love how Holley writes! It was like I was sitting down for coffee with one of my close friends. Holley guides you through a process of seeing who God created you to be. And after discovering all that, Holley helps you walk through how God desires us to use our giftings. This book was very key for me in being okay with who God created me to be. Too often I would try to be someone else just so I would be good enough. This book is a breath of fresh air. I encourage you to read it for yourself!

Friends, let me again remind you of the truth. You are loved and accepted just because you are God’s child.  You are enough because of Jesus. He is pleased with you. You bring Him great joy! Walk in this truth today!

Heavenly Father, thank You that because of You, I am enough. Please help me to talk in this truth today and every day. Thank You for showering me with love and acceptance just because I am Yours. I love you Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
