Gingerbread Cookie

Β This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.

John 3:16-17

β€œMy cookie is broken” pouted Caleb, our 3-year-old son. He held up his gingerbread cookie and showed my husband and I. We were at our older daughter’s school for a Christmas luncheon. The dessert was iced gingerbread man cookies. The leg of Caleb’s cookie was broken and he was very sad. I offered to switch my whole cookie with his. Caleb instantly lit up and happily traded with me. All was right in his world.

After taking the cookie from Caleb, I looked it over. There was a clear break in the leg and crumbs littered the package. I heard Jesus whisper to my heart in that moment β€œI have taken your brokenness and made you whole again. I gave my life so that you could have eternal life.” In the middle of a school cafeteria, I was once again reminded of how much I am loved by the Creator of the Universe.

You are loved

The Creator of the Universe loves you too. Jesus has done the same for you dear one. My question for you is have you let Him take your brokenness and make you whole again? Have you made Jesus the Lord of your life so that you can spend eternity with Him in heaven?

In our key verses for today, God’s word is very clear. He sent His son Jesus so that anyone could have a whole and lasting life. We must receive this free gift and ask Jesus to be the Lord of our lives. It is that simple. When Jesus steps into our lives, He brings wholeness and healing. Jesus changes us from deep within. We need to continually walk in this wholeness no matter what comes our way.

Patterns

Too often we stay broken. We get caught up in patterns that are unhealthy and don’t even realize it. The patterns become normal to us. Through the years, I have learned to come before Jesus each day and ask Him to reveal to me what lies I am believing. I also ask Jesus to show me what in my character is not lining up with His character. Where do I need to make some changes? God is so faithful to show me one step at a time. He cares more about change in my life than I even do and longs for me to be more like Jesus even more than I do. Amazing, right?

Bring Jesus your brokenness

The God of the Universe cares very deeply about you too. He desires for you to become more like His son Jesus. Will you bring Jesus your brokenness and let God make you whole again? God doesn’t want you to walk in brokenness but in wholeness in Him. God wants freedom for you.

Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your only Son Jesus to earth so that I may have eternal life. Thank You for taking my brokenness and making me whole again. Help me to continually give my brokenness to You each day and let you heal me. God, please help me to be in Your Word each day. It brings life, truth and guides me in Your ways. I love You, Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
