More than the morning
Mornings. When you hear that word what do you think of? Many people think of coffee or exercise.Β Others think of a shower, work or sleep. Personally, I love mornings. They bring a promise of a new day. AΒ day to draw closer to Jesus, to love the people God has placed in my life and to tell others about Jesus. Mornings also involve my favorite part of the day which is my time with Jesus in the Word.
Starting my day
I love starting my day by surrendering it to Jesus. Each day is a gift from God and I would be nothing without Him. I also acknowledge that God is the author of my day and I ask the Holy Spirit to guide each step. He always comes through. As I read in the Word the other morning, my world was rocked a little bit. In a good way of course but eye-opening nonetheless.
Sacrifice
I have been doing a study in Numbers with the First 5 app. It has been incredible to see the insights and truths that are tucked in this Old Testament book. Even though it happened so long ago and things are much different now, we can still learn a lot. The other morning, I read in Numbers 28:3-4 which reads βSay to the people: This is the special gift you must present to theΒ Lord as your daily burnt offering. You must offer two one-year-old male lambs with no defects. Β Sacrifice one lamb in the morning and the other in the evening.β After reading this,Β you may haveΒ wondered what does this have to do with mornings? God was asking His people to bring a daily offering. One in the morning and one in the evening. Did you catch that? One in the evening too. That was the part that jumped out at me.
Morning and Evening
I really enjoy my times in the morning and feel that I bring an offering of my time to God each day. I had never really thought about my need to bring an offering to God in the evening. Sure, I talk to God throughout my day but have I intentionally taken time to talk to God at the end of my day? This was eye opening and actually pretty exciting for me. I love the idea of closing out my day with God. Iβm not sure what it will look like but even a simple prayer of gratitude will be bringing an offering to God.
God created us differently
Some of you reading this are night owls and your offering at the end of the day is the longer one. That is great! I love that God has created us all differently. Find a time that works best for you to bring God an offering of your time. He loves every minute of it. God would love for us to begin and end our day with Him in mind. Will you join me in this pursuit to bring an offering to God in the morning and the evening? I hope so!
