Show Me The Way
βShow me the right path, OΒ Lord; point out the road for me to follow.β Β βPsalm 25:4, NLT
Have you ever said to someone “show me”? Β Often my kids will say that to me. The other day, God used one of those times to teach me.
βMom, I want to work on the big puzzle,β Caleb said to me while I was hanging laundry downstairs. I encouraged him to work on it. Not even a minute later βMom, itβs too hard!! It has too many pieces.β
I paused my laundry hanging and went over to the puzzle table. We talked about the number of pieces and I agreed with Caleb that is was a lot. But, I also encouraged Caleb to work on a little section at a time. A piece of the puzzle and then move on to the next part. He wasnβt too convinced and just moved on.
I resumed my laundry job. As I hung clothes, I couldnβt help but think how many times I sound just like Caleb when I talk to God. There has been and still are circumstances in my life that are hard. I want to quit and give up some days. I cry out to God and ask βWhy?β
But, think about all that I would miss if I just threw in the towel. In this past couple of years, I have grown closer to God than ever before. It is through these hard times that I learned in a fresh way that I need to depend on God even when it hurts. Seek His face even when I donβt understand.
In our key verse for today, we read about how much God cares for us. He knows the right path we should take. God knows the way we need to follow. Through the hard times in life, we need to keep leaning into God. And trust Him for the path He has us on. I know this isnβt easy but we can trust God.
How about you? Do you feel like life is too hard? Where in life do you want to throw in the towel? I want to encourage you to turn to God and ask Him to show you the right path to follow, the way you should go. God will be with you every step of the way no matter how hard it may seem. Rest in that truth today.
Heavenly Father, thank You that You are with me in everything. Please help me to continue to lean into You as You make the way clear. I love You, Lord. In Jesusβ name, Β Amen.
