Traditions, Back to School and Birthdays
Wow! Itβs already September! We enjoyed a full but fun August. How did your August go? Today is my monthly Friday Favorites post where I share my five favorites from the previous month. Traditions, Back to School and Birthdays are just a few of my favorite things from this past month. Read on to see what my other favorites are.
Traditions
Our family has lots of fun traditions. One of them is going on special outings the week before school begins. The kids LOVE to go to Shipshewana! Our first stop was at E&S Sales Bulk foods store. The marked down candy and cheese samples are always the highlight.
Our next stop was David Mercantile. There are so many fun shops there but our favorite is the Carousel on the top floor. We enjoyed the elevator ride to get there.
Next, we headed to RiseΒ ‘N Roll for donuts. Yummy! These donuts are famous in our area. And finally, we took our packed lunches to Riverbend Park which is a favorite in our house. We had a full but fun day!
Prayer Walk
Each year before school starts, we do a prayer walk around the kidβs schools. We spend time asking God to protect our kids, strengthen the teachers, and help our kids to be a light for Jesus. In my blog post Praying for Your Kidβs School, I go into more details. Please check it out.
Back to School
The kids are all back to school now and having fun. We are in full swing of our school routine. Itβs been a little tricky with all four kids being in a different school but we are making it work. The kids all seem to be enjoying their teachers. We are excited to see all that God has in store for each child this year. Our prayer is that they will be a light for Jesus.

Birthdays
Our youngest son Caleb turned 5 on August 16. He has been counting down the days for a few months. When a child turns 5 in our household, they start doing jobs around the house. Our kids also pick out a pet fish to care for. Caleb is really enjoying being 5!

Friend Time
I really enjoy connecting with friends! This past month, I enjoyed a walk with one of my best friends.Β I was able to have a girl night with another one of my best friends. We tried out a Β coffee shop that I had not been to before.
Throughout the month, I had lunch with a few friends. I loved being able to catch up with each friend. It was such a treat to go out to lunch on a school day too! Last weekend friends of ours came in from Ohio. It was great to celebrate Miahβs birthday and catch up with them.
I hope you enjoyed reading about the five things I am grateful for this past month. It was fun writing about it all. How about you?Β What are you grateful for this past month? I would love to hear about your month. Please share in the comments below. Have a great weekend!
