You’re Still Okay

“Mom, Caleb won’t take my hand!” complained my older son Nathan. The other night we were gathered for dinner and about to pray. My husband and I placed the last few items on the table for our meal. Nathan laid his hand out flat and Caleb refused to place his hand on top. Nathan felt rejected and frustrated. Jonathan reminded Nathan that even though Caleb wouldn’t take his hand, Nathan was still okay.

Jonathan asked Caleb to take Nathan’s hand. Caleb pouted about it but finally took Nathan’s hand. After thanking God for our meal, we enjoyed being together.

You’re still okay

As I sat there taking it all in, God whispered to my heart “Even if someone rejects you, you’re still okay.” I thought over the countless times in my life where I have felt the sting of rejection. Whether from a family member, a friend or a peer at school or even from a peer at work. At this stage of life, I also deal with rejection from my kids.

In those moments, I don’t feel okay. I feel like I’m not good enough.  I have spent too many years believing that lie. That is what it is. A BIG, FAT lie.  Call it for what it is!

You are okay. You are good enough. You are valuable and special.

Let me say that again in case you missed it. You are okay. You are good enough. You are valuable and special.

God created you

Why? Because God created you. He loves you deeply and thinks you’re pretty special. Your identity is in God alone. No person or situation defines who you are. Nothing you have done in the past defines you. Only GOD does. God knows everything about you and still accepts you. Here are some verses to remind you of that.

“You are precious and honored in my sight, and I love you.” –Isaiah 43:4

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” –Psalm 149:14

“You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God.” –Isaiah 62:3

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” –Ephesians 2:10, NLT

You Know Me

A song that really speaks to how much God loves you is “You Know Me” by Bethel Music. Here is a link for you to listen.     https://youtu.be/cVVlMQved8k

The choice is yours. Will you take God at His word? I know how hard it is. I still struggle with this. But, I can attest that it is possible to believe God’s truth instead of man’s lies. It is possible to walk in freedom even when other’s reject you. You are still okay. In fact, you are more than okay. You are God’s child!
