A 400,000 pound angel

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

I love how God works. He cares about all our needs. Every. Single. One. No matter how small or how silly the need may seem, God cares. The other day God blew me away with how much He cares. Here’s my story…

I headed out to meet a friend for an early morning walk. We were meeting at a school that had a path behind it. After arriving, I parked my van and waited for my friend to come. I had my pouch with phone and a headlight to wear around my waist since the path wasn’t well lit. My friend arrived so I hopped out of my van and we started to walk.

Just the two of us

There are usually three of us that meet on Friday mornings. Today, it was just the two of us, so I felt a little more alert. It seemed darker than normal too. So, I prayed and gave God my fears. I relaxed some and enjoyed the time catching up with my friend. We walked on and came to the college campus that the path ends at. We usually wind through the campus and turn back the way we came. When we approached the campus, a guy came out of his parked car and walked behind us. I was on high alert once again. It was well lit on campus, but I was still aware of what was going on. We kept walking and he headed into the Rec Center on campus. I let out the breath I was holding and relaxed once again.

Fear

After we circled a part of the campus, we headed back on the path. As we approached one part of the path, I noticed once again how dark it was. The fear crept in. Instead of letting it overtake, I prayed. “God, the path is dark. I feel scared. Would you please send your angels of protection? Would you please surround us and keep us safe? Thank you, Lord.” I felt a peace come over me once again and I knew God would watch over us.

As we got closer to that dark part of the path, all of the sudden, it was brightening up. Curious and amazed, I looked down at my headlamp around my waist wondering if God just really brightened that up. But, it was still a dull light. I looked over at my friend’s light wondering the same thing. It wasn’t any of our lights. Where was this light coming from? At that moment, I looked behind me to investigate more.

400,000-pound angel

It was then that I saw my 400,000- pound Angel. God had sent a train at exactly time I needed it. The light on the front of the train was shining brightly and lighting the very dark path. God heard my prayer even before I uttered it. He had planned what time that train would leave and He had planned the speed of the train. He had planned exactly how and when the train’s light would shine on our path. It was not a coincidence in any way. God cared very deeply about how I felt and chose to answer my prayer in a very powerful and tangible way. I felt so loved and cherished at that moment. He used a train to protect me and help me to feel safe walking down that path.

God cares

The rest of the walk I couldn’t stop smiling about how God lit our path. I am still smiling about how God pulled through. God stops at nothing to show us how much He loves us. Do you see the ways God answers your prayers? The ways He perfectly times out things? Be on the lookout because He is at work in your life. God cares very deeply about what is on your heart. Will you depend on Him today? I promise that God will not disappoint.

Heavenly Father, please open my eyes to the many ways You are at work in my life. Thank You that You care so deeply about all that I am going through. Thank You for the many ways You care for me and answer the cries of my heart. Please help me be more aware of how You take care of me. Help me to see the ways You answer my prayers and stop at nothing to show me how much You love me. Thank You, God. You are so good! In Jesus name, Amen.
