Hearts at Home #9- The God who Sees You

My last workshop was in the late afternoon. It was called “The God who sees you” and it was led by Tammy Maltby. I loved my time in this workshop and gleaned so much!! The top three takeaways that I learned were: Forgiveness is very important, God is calling us to the fast of our lives and trust that God has great things for us.

Forgiveness is very important

Tammy began the workshop by reminding everyone that God sees you. He sees it all and is wildly crazy about you. Even know I know this truth, it is always great to be reminded of it. The first point that really stood out to me was the importance of forgiveness. This is a hard topic to digest sometimes but one that God is very serious about. In Matthew 6:15, we read “But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”  It’s very clear-cut and no room for negotiation. God wants us to forgive. Tammy spoke about how when we forgive someone it doesn’t mean that what was done to us was right.

Freedom

Forgiveness is about our freedom. It is a process and God will be with you every step of the way. Tammy shared that she frequently asks God who she needs to forgive. I was challenged to take a look at my life. A comment made here or there may offend me but instead of holding on to the offense I need to forgive that person. By doing this, I will walk in more freedom. In addition to forgiving others, Tammy challenged us to forgive ourselves. Sometimes we may be the hardest person to forgive. But, we need to extend grace and forgiveness to ourselves also.

God is calling us to the fast of our lives

Another take away from this workshop was that God is calling us to the fast of our lives. God wants us to fast from the way we think our life should look. We need to fast from our need to control. This was a hard one for me to hear because I am a planner through and through. God loves that I have dreams, hopes, and desires. But in that God is calling me to trust His plan for my life.

God has great things in store

The final point that really stood out to me was of my need to believe God has great things in store for me. Tammy shared that God is asking us the questions: When are you going to trust me that I have good things for you? When are you going to release what you are holding so tightly? Wow!  I know I need to trust that the Creator of the whole universe has my best in mind. Whatever I am holding on to more than my Jesus needs to go.

Challenged and encouraged

I walked away from this workshop challenged and encouraged. Tammy’s heart and love for the Lord shone through. Her transparency opened me up to hear more of what she shared. Tammy gets it. She knows how hard it is to forgive. Tammy has been called to the fast of her life. She trusts that God has great things in store. I commit to growing in forgiveness, fasting from control and trusting in God’s amazing plan for my life.

How about you? Who do you need to forgive? Do you need to go on a fast from control? Do you trust that God has great things in store for you? Joining you in the journey…
