Same Power
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know… his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.”
Ephesians 1:18-20
Do you have a song that you listen to over and over? One of my current favorite songs has a line that goes something like this: The same power that rose Jesus from the grave lives in us.
Not beside us, not in front of us but INSIDE us. When I hear that, I get so pumped up. The same power lives in us!!
That same power was the strong east wind that pushed back the Red Sea so the Israelites could walk across on dry land. They were able to escape from the Egyptians.
And then, that same power in Joshua was what obliterated the walls of Jericho with the sound of a trumpet. Those walls were the city’s glory. And in the name of the Lord, those walls came tumbling down.
David and Esther
The same power in 1 Samuel was how David could stand before the giant Goliath. He came with a slingshot and 5 smooth stones. It wasn’t the stone that knocked the giant to the ground. Even David said, “I come before you in the name of the LORD Almighty.” It was that same power that conquered the giant Goliath.
And then, that same power in Esther was what moved the heart of King Xerxes. Esther went before the King without being invited. The punishment for that was death. But, God moved in the heart of King Xerxes and he received Esther. Because of that, the whole nation of Israel was saved. That same power!
Psalms
Throughout the Psalms, that same power of God is displayed. In Psalm 29, we read about how awesome God is. The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the glory of God thunders. In verse 4-5, we read that the voice of the Lord is powerful, it is majestic. His voice breaks the cedars. In verse 7, we read “The voice of the Lord strikes like lightning and shakes the dessert.” In verse 9, we read that God’s voice twists the oak trees. Have you seen an oak lately? God can twist it. That’s amazing!! In verse 9, we see another display of God’s power. “The Lord sits enthroned over the flood. He is enthroned as King forever!!”
Great is the Lord
Psalm 143:5 states “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.” We serve a mighty and powerful God. The bible is filled with many more stories of God’s awesome power. But the greatest work of all is when God sent Jesus as a sacrifice for us. The Israelites went from Shore to Shore. With Jesus, we can go from death to LIFE! We are able to draw near to God. Thank you, Jesus!
What do you believe?
Do you believe that God can conquer the giants in your life and that the walls in your life can be obliterated? The favor of God is resting on you. It really is all about a choice. Choose to believe in that the same power that rose Jesus from the grave lives in YOU!! And because of that same power, you can walk in victory every day.
