St. Nick’s Day, Moms Group and Christmas
Wow! It’s already January! We enjoyed a full but fun December. How did your December go? Today is my monthly Friday Favorites post where I share my five favorite things from the previous month. St. Nick’s Day, Moms Group and Christmas are just a few of my favorite things from this past month. Read on to see what my other favorites are.
St. Nick’s Day
On December 6, we celebrate St. Nick’s Day. It is a holiday my family celebrated when I was a child. We set our shoes out the night before and “St. Nick” fills it with treats and a little gift. The kids love this tradition too!
Moms Group Devotional
The Moms Group at my church invited me to share a devotional. The theme was Peace. I enjoyed spending time with these ladies and digging into God’s truth. I love encouraging women in their walks with the Lord.
Christmas with Family and Friends
I love celebrating Christmas! This year, Jonathan’s parents came to town. It was so wonderful to see them! We enjoyed a family dinner with Jonathan’s brother and some of our nephews. They were a big help in moving our very heavy piano downstairs.
We also celebrated Christmas with friends. Our adoptive parents hosted us for a Christmas meal. The kids love their Yoder grandparents. We also enjoyed our Corbin and Weishaupt Christmas with our friends Jon, Aimee, and family.
Traditions
We love traditions because they give purpose and meaning to the holiday. In fact, I wrote a post about my favorite Christmas tradition. One of our traditions is to drive around to see Christmas lights. This year we packed hot cocoa and favorite blankets for our trip. Another tradition includes giving our kids either PJs or new slippers on Christmas Eve. This year it was PJs. We also have a new tradition of making gingerbread cookies with my friend Kristi and her kids.
Christmas Day
I love Christmas! This year we enjoyed a quiet day at home. After our traditional Christmas breakfast, we read the story of Jesus found in Luke 2:1-20. Later in the day, we enjoyed dessert first for our Christmas meal. We make a birthday cake for Jesus to celebrate His life. We are so thankful He came as a baby so that we could have eternal life.
I hope you enjoyed reading about the five things I am grateful for this past month. It was fun writing about it all. How about you? What are you grateful for this past month? I would love to hear about your month. Please share in the comments below. Have a great weekend!
