Tell Her
As women, we love to look good. We spend lots and lots of time picking out the perfect outfit, jewelry, and shoes to match. The longing to be noticed is there even if we don’t admit it. Women have a longing deep inside to be beautiful and to be noticed.
But too often than not, we find ourselves comparing to another woman. Sometimes it’s our friends or even a family member. We think and sometimes say out loud “I wish I was as skinny as my sister” or “Oh, I love her outfit, I wish I could have clothes like that.” or “Her body shape is so much better than mine” or “If only I could sing or dance like her or run as fast as her” or “Oh, to have a life like her then things would be all better.”
And if we are totally honest as women we sometimes don’t even tell our friends, family or stranger how nice they look. Why? We are so focused on ourselves and on what we want. If we are totally honest, we don’t really think about the person. Sound familiar? Me too. I have done this too often. It’s in these moments that God whispers to my heart several things.
Tell Her
First, He asks me to “TELL HER” Tell her that her outfit looks awesome, tell her that she did an awesome job singing, tell her that she did an amazing job on that run after working so hard, tell her great job on eating and exercising, your hard work has paid off, tell her she did a great job leading that meeting at work, tell her she rocked on organizing her house, tell her that the activity she did with her kids was so creative. JUST TELL HER!! God reminded me of the importance of encouraging instead of comparing. I believe that we as women need to just focus on encouraging others instead of comparing ourselves to them.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made
The second thing God whispers to me is that I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:13-14
God’s love is deep
God also reminds me that He went to the cross for me and would do it all again because He loves me that much! “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” -Romans 5:8
God is enthralled with your beauty
And lastly, God reminds me that He is enthralled with my beauty.
The King is enthralled by your beauty… -Psalm 45:11
God thinks I am beautiful. When I rest in full assurance of this promise and believe it with all my heart then I can then walk in this truth. I don’t have to compare myself to others or focus on what I think I need. The focus is on God’s love for me. Instead, I can be so filled up with God’s love that it will just ooze out on others. I can focus on how to encourage others. I can JUST TELL HER!
So, the next time you catch yourself comparing, remember that God loves you, is enthralled by YOUR beauty and desires for you to “TELL HER.”
