Run the Race Set Before You
The last session at Hearts for Home was given by Angela Thomas. She did an amazing job wrapping up the conference by sharing a lot of solid truths. One of my favorites was to Run the Race set before you. These are truths I was already familiar with but it was awesome to hear them again.
Turn hearts toward Jesus
Angela challenged us to begin each day turning our hearts towards Jesus first. When we do this we can then go to others. She also reminded us that there is no amount of anything that can separate you from the love of God.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” -Romans 8:38-39
You are beautiful
God says to each one of us- You were beautiful the day I dreamed you up. Psalm 45:11 tells us “The King is enthralled by your beauty.” Angela encouraged us to learn to live God’s truth. He is calling each one of us. It’s time to get up and go. Stop living in the past. Forget the lies of the enemy.
Know the love of God- He has run to get you! His expectation is for you to live in the truth of His love for you. You send your son for the ones you can’t bear to live eternally without.
Throw off what hinders you
Angela then ended by reflecting on Hebrews 12:1-2- “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Run the race set before you
She encouraged us to get up each morning and realize how desperately we need a savior. Throw off whatever hinders you. Get to Jesus! Tell people “Excuse me, pardon me, I am going to The Lord, going to The Lord!” As we race through life we must not quit! Girl, don’t you quit! Just run through the stitch in your side – persevere- train yourself to not quit. Run the race set before you. It may not be what you expected it to be but keep pushing through. One day we will get to the top of the hill- we are going to see with our eyes over the hill – it’s uphill from here. Keep your eyes on heaven. Run for the glory of God!!
What a great way to end an amazing conference. I was challenged, refreshed and encouraged. I am looking forward to going back next year!
