Warning! There Will Be Side Effects

side effects

One of our family goals this year is to read one parenting and marriage book per quarter.  Last week, I shared about the parenting book Jonathan and I read together called You Can’t Make Me by Cynthia Ulrich Thomas. Today, I will be sharing about the marriage book we read together called Kiss Me Like You Mean It by Dr. David Clarke.

This book…Wow! I highly recommend it to all married couples, no matter how many years you have been married. I originally found this book on Focus On The Family’s website. The subtitle to this book is “Solomon’s Crazy in Love How-to Manual.”  The author does an excellent job getting the heart of the why passion doesn’t last in marriage. He also addresses how to get the passion back.

Crazy in Love

God wants us to have passion in our marriages and be crazy in love. In fact, He has dedicated a whole book of the bible to show us how to get the passion back. In Kiss Me Like You Mean It,  Dr. David Clarke, addresses our need to get the passion back in our marriage. He also covers the myths about passion and the Song of Solomon.

In chapters three to twenty, Dr. David Clarke guides you through the Song of Solomon. He teaches the passion principles contained in Song of Solomon. Each principle has two chapters; one describing the mistakes couples make and the second chapter explains how couples can master the passion principle. The last several chapters deal with conflict and preparing for physical intimacy. And the final chapter of the book looks in more detail at Song of Solomon 8:6-7.

This book has solid, biblical principles and will change your marriage. Literally!! Like the title of the blog post…there will be side effects.

I love how down to earth Dr. David Clarke is. He doesn’t mince words and really challenges you to look at your marriage. Jonathan and I have been married for almost 17 years. Though we are doing well, there are still many ways we need to grow in our passion. I am thankful for this book to guide us in this process. I encourage you to read this book with your spouse. You WILL grow in your marriage as a result!
