What to Do When You’re in Over Your Head
“But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you.” Isaiah 43:1-3, MSG
Have you ever been in over your head? Have you ever felt like life is just too much for you to handle? I am sure we all have been there at some point. It is in these moments that we have a choice. Will we let life overwhelm us or will we turn to God and trust that He has it under control?
My desire is to turn to God and trust that He has it under control. I am sure you would much rather go that route as well. But, what does this look like on a day-to-day basis? In our Scripture Verses for today, we learn in order to trust God, we need to remember who we are, who is with us, and to have hope.
Remember who you are
First, we need to know who we are. The truth is you are a child of God. He has made you. God has called you by name. (Isaiah 43:1) You are His. Nothing can take this identity away from you. Every morning and maybe even throughout the day, we need to come back to this truth.
God is with you
Secondly, God is with you. (Isaiah 43:2) Anytime you feel like you are in over your head, God is right there with you. He will not let you go down in the rough waters of life. God will give you the strength you need for whatever you are facing.
Hope
And lastly, we have a hope that cannot be taken away. (Isaiah 43:3)Anytime we find ourselves between a rock and a hard place, God promises that it won’t be a dead end because He is our God. He paid a huge price for us when He sent Jesus to die in our place. Because Jesus died and rose again, we have a hope that cannot be taken away.
When your in over your head
I have no way of knowing what you are dealing with right now, what keeps you up at night, and what’s on your mind all day. But God knows and He cares very deeply. The next time life circumstances start to overwhelm you, remember who you are, Whose you are, and the hope that you have. You will not go down!
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and calling me your child. I love that You care so deeply about all that I am going through. Thank you that because You are with me, I will not go down. Help me to continue to trust in You no matter what. I love You, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Encouragement from God's Word
God’s word is amazing, isn’t it? I am blown away by all the nuggets of wisdom and encouragement throughout the Bible. One of my goals each day is to keep God’s Word always before me. To keep it at the forefront of my mind and hidden in my heart. (Psalm 119:11)
One of the ways I do that is by using Scripture verse lock screens and desktop wallpapers. As I work on my computer or look at my phone throughout the day, I have God’s truth in front of me. I created some lock screens and desktop wallpapers using the Scripture verses. I would love to share these with you. My heart is to encourage you to keep your thoughts fixed on God.
