What to Do When You See Jesus
“And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him.” Matthew 28:9, NLT
If Jesus was coming towards you right now, how would you react? Maybe you would start asking a lot of questions or maybe you wouldn’t even be able to speak. The response of two women in the Bible, Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, challenged me this past Easter morning. They did three things when they saw Jesus. Run, grasp, and worship.
Run
First, when you see Jesus, run to Him. In our key verse for today, Mary Magdalene and Mary ran to Jesus. They had just been told by an angel that Jesus rose from the dead. The women were going to tell the disciples the good news when Jesus met them. Their first response was to run to Him.
Each day, I believe our first response needs to be to run to Jesus. We need to turn away from our selfishness, pride and all other sins. And run to Jesus’ arms.
Grasp
Second, the women grasped Jesus’ feet. Mary Magdalene and Mary had to get down low in order to this. Their faces were close to the ground.
After running to Jesus, I believe we need to position ourselves in a posture that recognizes who is really in control. Each day, we can get down low and grasp Jesus’ feet. And while we are there, surrender our will and recognize that Jesus has it all under control.
Worship
Third, Mary Magdalene and Mary worshiped Jesus. They recognized that it was all about Jesus and couldn’t help but worship Him.
Worship is so powerful. Our hearts get aligned and focused when we worship. As we worship, we recognize that it is not about us, but all about Jesus.
Every day, we have a chance to “see” Jesus. What will you do when you see Him? Will you take the time each day to run, grasp and worship Jesus? Maybe you need to do this a couple times throughout the day. I know I need to. Joining you in the journey…
Dear Jesus, thank You for Your word. I love how You met the women after You were resurrected. Jesus, when I meet You each day, please help me to run to you, grasp your feet, and worship you. I love You, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
