8 Scriptures to Pray for Your Husband + A FREE Printable!

Marriage is hard work. You don’t have to be married long for problems to come up. But, marriage is also amazing! It’s in the hard work that you draw closer to God and one another.

As wives, we have the privilege of praying for our husbands. I love how Sharon Jaynes states it: “The most important work we can do for our husbands is on our knees.” This year, I encourage you to make a commitment to get on your knees and pray for your husband. In today’s post, I share 8 scriptures to pray for your husband and an example prayer to go with each Scripture.

 

Trust God’s Plan

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Dear Lord, please help ________ to trust You with all his heart. Help ________ not to depend on his own understanding but look to You instead. Please help ___________ to seek Your will above all else. Thank you that You will show _____________ what path to take as he leads our family. In Jesus name, Amen.

 

 

Lean on God in struggles

“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” Psalm 46:1

Dear Lord, thank you for being _______________’s refuge and strength. Please help him to turn to You in his struggles. Thank you that You are always ready to help _____________. In Jesus name, Amen.

 

 

God’s favor and blessing on work

“May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands.”  Psalm 90:17, NIV

Dear Lord, may Your favor rest on ________________. Please bless and establish all the work of his hands. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.

 

 

Wisdom

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” James 1:5

Love & Respect

“For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her.”

“So again, I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”  Ephesians 5:25, 33

Godly friends

“Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.” Proverbs 13:20

Dear Lord, please help _______________ to have godly friends that point him to You. Bring men alongside _______________ that will sharpen him. Thank you. In Jesus name, Amen.

 

 

Grow Spiritually and Pray

“Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18

“Never stop praying.”  1 Thessalonians 5:17

Dear Lord, may _________________ always being growing in the grace and knowledge of You. Help him to spend time in Your Word daily. In addition, please help ________________ to be in an attitude of prayer throughout the day. Help him to tap into Your amazing power and strength. In Jesus name, Amen.

 

 

Integrity

“The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.”   Proverbs 11:3

Dear Lord, please give ______________ the strength, wisdom, and grace to stand up for what is right in the world we live in today. Help __________ to maintain his integrity at work even when others try to pull him down. In Jesus name, Amen.
