A Pizza Crust Win + an Update on my 2018 goals
6 or maybe it has been 7 pizza crust recipes. Yes, I have really tried that many. And guess what? I have finally found the One. The best-tasting pizza crust yet! Let me tell you the story.
In March, I didn’t plan very well with our grocery cash. By the end of the month, we didn’t have much left to work with. Which meant no traditional Easter foods. So, we had to work with what we had on hand for our Easter dinner.
God brought to mind that we had ingredients for homemade pizza. My kids were thrilled! Due to my chicken egg, gluten and dairy food allergies, I need to make a different pizza for myself. We were out of my bread flour but had some of my Gluten Free flour left.
So, I did a google search for another pizza crust recipe that I could use. The one I landed on is by far the BEST pizza crust ever. To say I was excited would be an understatement!!
I absolutely love how God worked that out! I am so glad we ran out of grocery money. If we had not, I would have never looked for another pizza crust recipe. God is so awesome, isn’t He?
Thanks for reading my pizza crust story and celebrating with me. Speaking of celebrating, can you believe the first quarter of the year is over? I hope your first quarter was amazing and you drew even closer to God. I know I did. Here is an update on my 2018 goals.
Goals in wisdom (Intellect/knowledge)
Read through the entire Bible by December 31, 2018.
**Progress– I am using the Expressions One Year Bible in the New Living Translation. I am on track! Yay! I love how God’s word is jumping off the page with fresh insight as I read.
Read at least 25 personal growth books.
**Progress- So far I have read 6 books and have learned so much! Some of my favorites include In A Pit With a Lion on a Snowy Day by Mark Batterson and Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. God is using these books to change me in so many ways. I am also really enjoying audio books. It’s been fun to stretch myself in this because I am not an audio learner.
Goals in Stature (Health-physical/emotional)
Do something active for at least 5 minutes a day.
**Progress – I changed this goal because I realized the purpose of this goal was to be more active. I am excited about the progress I have seen.
Goals in relationship with God
Be able to recite at least 31 scripture verses by memory by the end of the year.
**Progress – I am using the scriptures found in 31 Verses to Write on Your Heart by Liz Curtis Higgs. I love how this book looks deeper into each verse. I have memorized 10 verses though I do need to work on reviewing them.
Goals in relationship with men
Remove three things that create emotional distance and replace them with things that create closeness in our marriage relationship.
**Progress – Our pastor has been preaching a Marriage Series called Cherish. It has challenged me in many ways. One area that I have been working on removing is pointing out the negative in something Jonathan has done. Instead, I am working on seeing the positive. This has been so good for our marriage!
Adopt words and mannerisms that help our kids feel loved and accepted for who they are.
**Progress – Stop. Look. Listen. This is a strategy I am working on adopting right now. I actually wrote a post on this a couple years ago that God reminded me of. I am so grateful for the Holy Spirit who helps me on this journey.
Pray at least 10 minutes a day and throughout the day.
**Progress- I have also updated this goal. The purpose of this goal was to be more intentional about prayer. I feel like it is definitely more of a habit throughout my days. I enjoyed going through the Mustard Seed Prayer Challenge with a group. It helped me to see how much time I do have to pray throughout the days.

I love how you list your goals and they’re very specific. I do one general goal for the year. I would like to change that and be more specific and intensional. Thank you for your woman ideas and strategies!
You’re most welcome! I am glad this post was helpful. 🙂
