Dance Around with Joy

“Mommy, we are at the BEACH!!” exclaimed my 5 year old daughter Analiah as she jumped up and down. The wind and ice cold water couldn’t dampen her spirit. Analiah wasn’t even paying attention to the large waves behind her.  She grabbed hold of my hands and started to dance around in circles. The pure joy and innocence were contagious. Soon, I found myself not even thinking about the ice cold water. I couldn’t help but smile.

At that moment, I felt so carefree and without a care in the world. Shouldn’t it always be that way? The creator of the universe is my Daddy. He has everything under control. When the large waves of life come and the ice cold situations happen, why don’t I just dance around with joy? Instead, I find myself filled with fear or worry. I question and wonder why I am in this situation. I let the hard times dampen my spirit and take away my joy.

God is Faithful

It’s in these times that I need to grab my Daddy’s hand and dance around. I need to remember that God has been faithful before and He will be faithful again. Like the Psalmist in Psalm 26:3, I can declare “For I have always been mindful of your unfailing love and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness.

God’s word is filled with verses that speak of His faithfulness. In Psalm 36:5, we read “Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.” God’s faithfulness does not end! It reaches past the skies.

God is abounding in faithfulness. Psalm 86:15 speaks to this “But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” God is faithful and we can trust Him.

God can calm the large waves of life and warm up the ice cold situations in our lives. He can use anything for our good.

Let’s Dance

So, when we face a hard time, let’s dance around with joy. Let’s grab God’s hand, twirl around, and trust Him to take care of whatever is going on in our life.

Friend, do you find yourself in a situation that is hard to understand? Will you take your Heavenly Daddy’s hand and trust Him today?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am sorry for how I have let the hard times damper my spirit and steal my joy. God, I want to trust You more. You have proven Yourself faithful again and again. Help me to take Your hand and dance even when the storms are swirling around me. I love You, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Every meal is a chance to gather, share, and give thanks.

One of my favorite memories from growing up was our meal times together. I wanted to be sure to do that when I had my own family. Dinner is a way to bond as a family and focus on all we have to be grateful for.

How often does your family sit down together? I encourage you to try at least once a week and more if possible.
