Looking for God in the Unexpected
βHe gives strengthΒ to the weary and increases the power of the weak.β Isaiah 40:29
It happened just over a year ago. The unexpected. We were at the park for lunch just like any other summer day. And then, Analiah fell and broke her wrist in two places and her humorous bone just above the elbow.
How do you find God in the unexpected? As I reflect on this past summer, I realized how God was right there. In so many ways.
But, through all the craziness of last summer, we felt the strength of God in a very powerful way. Our key verse for today really speaks to how I felt.
βHe gives strengthΒ to the weary and increases the power of the weak.β Isaiah 40:29
Strength
God gave us strength in friends and family who prayed for us and in our neighbors watched our other kids while we went to the hospital.
I felt Godβs strength when my friend Angie sat at the hospital with me while Analiah was in surgery, brought me dinner and ran to the pharmacy for us.
God poured His strength into us by how our family who was visiting from Utah helped around the house and were just a blessing to be with.
We felt Godβs strength in the outpouring of gifts for Analiah from friends and neighbors.
God poured His strength over us in my friend Megan who brought us dinner on the following Monday which was so helpful! The words of encouragement on Social Media were also a huge blessing.
We could not have made it through that week last summer without God. He literally carried me through. I am so thankful for His love and strength.
When the unexpected happens, what do you do?Β Do you try to handle it on your own strength? Or do you lean into God and let Him carry you? I encourage you to lean into God because βHe gives strengthΒ to the weary and increases the power of the weak.β Keep looking for God in the unexpected.
