Losing Weight vs. Releasing Weight

Have you ever tried to lose weight and struggled? Maybe you tried a diet or a specific eating plan and nothing seemed to work. Me too! Today, I am going to share what I learned about losing weight vs. releasing weight. It may actually surprise you.

A little background

The journey of losing weight has been a rollercoaster for me. Maybe you can relate?

A couple of years after our fourth child was born, I decided it was time to get focused and lose weight. Through counting my calories, running and other exercises, I was able to lose about 40 pounds. I felt amazing!

About a year or so later, I had an allergic reaction to food. After tests, it was determined I was allergic to gluten (wheat), all dairy and chicken eggs.

This rocked my world and I almost constantly struggled with discouragement and anger. It wasn’t fair that everyone else could eat whatever they wanted and I couldn’t. I compensated by overeating on the things I could eat and the weight added up.

A couple of months after that in June of 2015, I sustained a concussion and broken nose. After three and a half years, I am still feeling the pain from this injury.

The daily head and nose pain prevented me from most exercise. This made it even harder to lose weight. I continued to try but without much success.

Changed Mindset

Around November, I talked with my Life Coach about really focusing on my health. I shared my frustrations of not losing weight. My Life Coach challenged me to look at it as releasing weight instead of losing weight.

At first, I thought β€œWhat is she talking about?” But, then it started to click. Releasing Weight helped me to see it as freeing my body of the weight it didn’t need.

I started on the journey of releasing weight. It felt so much more freeing and motivating for me.

In December, our friends Charlie and Rachel told us about intermittent fasting. The basic explanation is fasting for 16 hours and eating for 8 hours of your day. It helps with mental clarity and losing weight.

My husband Jonathan and I decided to try it out. After a week or so, we could see a difference in our bodies and it was exciting. So, when my friend Marcie mentioned the FASTer Way to Fat Loss Program in January, I was intrigued.

FASTer Way to Fat Loss

The FASTer Way to Fat Loss is a 6-week program that uses Intermittent Fasting and Carb Cycling. After Jonathan and I talked about it, we decided to join also. The FWTFL group had a Facebook page and we were coached through by Ashley Bush, FWTFL coach.

The FWTFL program is amazing! It took some time to get used to tracking macros and the Carb Cycling but it has been worth it. The program encourages you to be Gluten and Dairy Free which worked great for me because of my allergies.

The daily exercises the program provides have pushed and challenged me. It’s been a blessing to be able to do many of the exercises without much head and nose pain.

The Results

During the 6 weeks, you are encouraged not to weigh yourself. On the last day of the program, I weighed in. I also did the same measurements that we took at the beginning of the program.

Friends, I released 10.8 pounds and 11.05 inches!! To say I was excited would be an understatement. Of course, it was so much more than inches and weight released.

I feel so different. I am stronger in my body, I feel lighter, and I am so much more confident. The other day I looked in the mirror and actually felt excited about the person I was seeing.

Releasing weight

The FASTer Way to Fat Loss is a new lifestyle for me. I absolutely love that I can eat real food. I have gained so many new amazing recipes through this program. And as I mentioned already, I have gained confidence in my mind and body.

I hope my journey of releasing weight has been an encouragement to you. I would love for you to release weight and gain freedom in your eating patterns also.

My FWTFL coach Ashley Bush is starting another round soon. I would highly recommend going through the program with her! Again, click HERE for more information and to register for the next FASTer Way To Fat Loss 6-week program.
