Spring is here! 10 Family Fun Activities

Spring is here! Spring is here! Yay! Can you tell I am excited? I love Spring for so many reasons. I love all the flowers blooming and the trees starting to get leaves. The warmer weather is definitely a plus as our family gets outside more. Here are 10 family fun ideas for your family to try this Spring.

1. Go on a Bike Ride

Do you have any bike trails in your area? If so, take advantage of them by going on a bike ride as a family. If you don’t have trails consider a bike ride around your neighborhood or bike somewhere else close by.

2. Take a Hike

Find a nearby park and go for a hike! It’s a great way to get exercise and explore nature. If your kids are old enough, climb a tree with them. Hunt for flowers that are coming up. Look for animals coming out of hibernation. Take binoculars along and look for birds. Another option is to do a Nature Scavenger Hunt. Enjoy this time out in nature!

3. Make a Bird Feeder

It’s time to get crafty by making a DIY bird feeder. Here is a short video on how to make a bird feeder out of a plastic bottle. Another option is to paint a birdhouse that can be found at a local craft store. One more option is to go shopping together to pick out a birdfeeder. Have fun watching the birds come to your feeder.

4. Collect and Paint Rocks

Go to a nearby park and collect rocks. Look for rocks that are big and smooth. Rocks can also be found by rivers, at the beach, or in the forest.

Once you’ve gathered the rocks, get them ready to paint. Create fun designs or just paint with colors you enjoy. Look at Pinterest for fun ideas or look on Youtube for tutorials on certain designs.

5. Fly a Kite

Head to the store and pick up a kite if you don’t already have one. I recommend looking for a sturdy kite so it lasts longer. Next, find an open field and fly a kite! Pick a day with some wind so your kite gets up in the air.

I love Spring for so many reasons. The warmer weather is definitely a plus. Here are 10 family fun ideas for your family to try this Spring.

6. Play Hopscotch

Even though this game is super simple, it is a lot of fun. Read this article to learn how to play five different variations of hopscotch.

7. Plant a Garden

Spring is the perfect time to plant a garden. There are many types of gardens to choose from. The most common garden is a vegetable garden. Flower gardens are also very popular. Another fun one is a fairy garden. Decide as a family which option you would all enjoy and start planting. If you don’t have room for a garden, consider planting flowers together by the mailbox or in the front landscaping. Kids love to dig in the dirt so they are sure to enjoy this activity.

8. Dance in the Rain

Rainy days are part of Spring. But, it doesn’t have to ruin your day. Put on rain boots and raincoats and head outside. Take a walk using umbrellas. Or put on some music and have a dance party in the rain. The kids will love it! After coming inside and changing into dry clothes, enjoy some hot cocoa or tea to warm up.

9. Go to a Park

Parks are a great place to run off some extra energy and have fun doing it. Head to an area park and have fun playing with your kids. Who says you’re too old to swing or do the monkey bars? Your kids will love playing beside you. If you don’t have many parks where you live, head to a school playground and play there. Enjoy!

10. Wash a Car

Buckets, dish soap, and sponges are just a few of the things you will need for this family fun Spring activity. On a warmer day, park your vehicle out in the driveway. Work together to clean your vehicle. Get ready to get wet but also have a lot of fun!

There are so many fun activities to do in the Spring. Which of the ideas will you try? Please comment below and let me know. Remember, playing with your children builds strong relationships with them. So, get out there and have some fun creating meaningful memories!
