Update on my Goals + Big Dreams

I hope you had a great weekend! This post is about Motherhood and My Community Goals. I have also included an update on my big dreams for the year.

Motherhood Goals

Read 6- 8 parenting books by December 31, 2017

In January, I finished Preparing for Adolescence by Dr. James Dobson. It is actually a book written for an adolescent to read which I figured out after starting it. But, it was still good to read so I know what our kids will be reading. Another book IΒ started last month was Mother & Son The Respect Effect by Emerson Eggerichs. This book. Wow! It has been life changing for me. I am learning how to talk respect to my boys. It’s even helping me in my marriage. The plan is to finish this book by the end of the month. I would highly recommend this book!

Have one on one time with each kid 1-2 times a week

I have loved having the intentional with my kids. ThisΒ goal is one I have hit every week besides the first week in January.Β  The biggest game changer was making a schedule for which day I have one on one time with each kid. This schedule hangs on the refrigerator. MyΒ kids love reminding me it’s their day to play a game.

Pray for kids daily using their verse

This goal has been a challenge for me. I am averaging about 4-5 days a week where I actually pray their verse of the year. I guess that is better than nothing, right?

My Community

Pray for 10 minutes 4-5 days a week in the War Room

I am doing fairly well with this goal though I didn’t meet itΒ last week. Prayer is powerful so IΒ will keep pushing through. I love praying for others!

Write one handwritten encouraging note a week

This goal has been a lot of fun for me! I love to encourage people and I love real mail so this is the best of both worlds. You will often find me sending more than one note a week. Last week I did forget to send one in the mail.

Send out Birthday cards to extended family each month

This has been another fun goal. At the beginning of the year, I gathered all my extended family’s birthdays in a book. I have enjoyed sending out cards. March birthdays need to get done. In fact, one of my cards may be belated. Oops!

Big Dreams for 2017

Read 35 nonfiction books– So far, I have read 4 books.

Teach myself to play one worship song on the piano – I haven’t worked on this at all.

Write another book – I am praying about what God has for me in this.

Run two 10K races – I have been slowly increasing my miles and am up to running 3 miles. Yay!

How are you doing with your goals? I would love to hear an update from you too. Please comment below. Thanks!
