What Are You Planting this Spring?
Have you thought about what you'll be planting this Spring? We're planning on growing some delicious tomatoes, zucchini, and possibly cucumbers. But, let's not forget about planting the seeds of God's Word in our minds. By doing so, we can fight against the ‘weeds’ that try to take over our thoughts.
In Colossians 3:2, we read “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” This season, let's make it a priority to cultivate our minds with Scripture. Check out these six powerful Scripture verses that you can plant in your mind this Spring and watch as they grow and flourish within you.
1. Philippians 4:6-7
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Life becomes hectic and it becomes way too easy to plant doubt, fear, and worry in our minds. This Scripture verse reminds us to pray about everything. And when we do, we will experience God’s peace. Now that sounds like something I want planted in my mind.
2. Isaiah 58:11
“The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.” Isaiah 58:11
A well-watered garden sounds refreshing, doesn’t it? God promises that we will be like one. As we let God guide us, He will restore our strength.
In the times when we are feeling dry and worn out, let’s plant the truth of this Scripture verse in our minds. God will give you water when you are dry.
3. Philippians 1:6
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6
What a promise! We can be confident God is working in our lives. In the moments where you doubt and feel hopeless, remember to plant this Scripture verse in your mind.
God is using every situation in your life to draw you closer to Himself. He is working out everything for your good.
4. Isaiah 40:31
“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Could you use a little strength? Me too! In the moments where you feel weary, make sure this Scripture vesre is planted in your mind.
God will help you soar on wings like eagles. He will help you run in life and not grow weary. The key is trusting in the Lord. We must choose to turn to God for new strength.
5. Deuteronomy 31:6
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
Another Scripture to plant in our minds this spring is Deuteronomy 31:6. This verse reminds us that we are not alone because God is always with us.
No matter what we are facing, we can be strong and courageous because God is on our side. He will never leave us or forsake us.
6. Philippians 4:8
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8
This Scripture verse is one of my favorites. It gives clear direction on what to fix our thoughts on and what to plant in our minds.
During the moments when doubts, judgments, fears, etc. creep their way into our minds, we need to run through this list. Are we planting things in our minds that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, or admirable? If not, we need to pause and ask God to refocus our minds and help us plant this scripture in our minds.
Planting God’s Word
Spring is a fun time as we plant a garden and/or flowers. This spring, let’s be sure to plant God’s Word in our minds. By doing this, we will better combat the ‘weeds’ that try to choke us.
