Year In Review 2017
The end of 2017 is almost here. Is it just me, or did this year go fast? Honestly, it has been a great year. I am not who I was in January of 2017 and for that I am grateful. God has worked in my heart to help me be more like Jesus. I am also thankful for the many fun memories of this year. Today, I am going to share a year in review; a final update on my 2017 goals.
Myself Goals
Read 6-8 books related to personal growth
One of the ways I continue to grow and change is by reading books. This is a goal because I know there are so many ways I can be more like Jesus. This goal is complete. Yay! Here is a list of the books I read.
Lies Women Believe: And the truth that sets them free by Nancy Leigh DeMoss
Never Unfriended by Lisa Jo Baker (I posted a review of this book. Read this post.)
You are Already Amazing by Holley Gerth
She’s Still There by Chrystal Evans Hurst
The Happiness Dare by Jennifer Dukes Lee
The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson
Calm, Cool and Connected by Arlene Pellicane (I posted a review of this book. Read this post.)
Craving Connection by the (in)Courage community
Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist
You are Free by Rebekah Lyons
Me, Myself, & Lies by Jennifer Rothschild
Business Books
Presence by Amy Cuddy
Essentialism by Greg McKeown
The Power of Full Engagement by Tony Schwartz and James E. Loehr
One Thing by Gary W. Keller and Jay Papasan
Get to and maintain goal weight
This goal has been challenging with my head and nose injury. Some days when I wake up, I am not able to exercise because of the pain level. I am not to my goal weight which is disappointing. But, I have grown and learned so much about my eating habits through the 30 Day Challenge with Betty Rocker. www.bettyrocker.com. This coming year, I look forward to getting even healthier.
Marriage Goals
Read 6-8 marriage books by December 31, 2017
This goal is not complete. I realized I set my standards pretty high with my reading goals without taking into consideration other areas of life. I did read these books though:
Nine Thoughts that Can Change Your Marriage by Sheila Wray Gregoire
Hot Mama by Kathi Lipp and Erin MacPherson
Kiss Me Like You Mean It by Dr. David Clarke
Serve Jonathan in at least one way a day
This was a hard goal to measure. I do feel like I focused more on serving Jonathan which is good.
Pray daily for Jonathan
I did complete this goal. Yay! This goal helped me to pray for the most important person in my life.
Motherhood Goals
Read 6- 8 parenting books by December 31, 2017
I did not complete this goal. Similar to my marriage book goal, I realized I set my standards pretty high with my reading goals. These are the books I did read:
Mother and Son: The Respect Effect by Emerson Eggerichs
You Can’t Make Me by Cynthia Ulrich Tobias (I posted a review of this book. Read this post.)
Wild Things by David H. Thomas and Stephen James
Have one on one time with each kid 1-2 times a week
This goal was also challenging to measure. I failed to keep track of it. But, I feel like it is about 80% complete.
My Community
Pray for 10 minutes 4-5 days a week
I did not complete this goal. Though I did pray, it wasn’t as much as I would have liked to.
Send out Birthday cards to extended family each month
This goal is completed. A few of the months I was late getting cards out but managed to at least get the cards out.
How did you do with your 2017 goals? I would love to hear an update from you. Please comment below.
Stay tuned for next week’s post where I will share my 2018 goals. They are going to look a lot different. I am excited to share my goals with you!
